As discussed in the video above, you need to literally tell people what you want them to do in your blog posts. This is referred to using calls to actions or “CTAs”. You should use them often in your content and blog. Never assume that because you slap on some banners or a few links, that people will click on them. Most of the times your audience is just scanning through the information. So you want to make sure that your “calls to action” are repeated and very prominent as they scan.

Try to use various styling elements like using bold, underline and bright blue links. Don’t just slap on banners and depend on them. Be sure to use text links as well so you can combat the banner blindness we all have.

I know this tip seems pretty easy but it’s very powerful. I assumed than many bloggers are aware of this. But I’m always surprised to see how many blogs lack strong calls to action. So if you knew this already, then that’s great for you. But for those of you that didn’t, you will be happily surprised how applying this increases your conversions relatively quickly.

As stated in the video above, don’t just limit yourself to promoting the obvious companies related to your niche or blog. Look at other companies that may be paying more and can add value to your audience.

For instance let’s say you run a dog blog. Conventional thinking would say promote products like dog collars or dog training books. That would work but they don’t pay all that much.

But using the technique in the video, we could also promote carpet cleaning machines. Pets tend to have accidents and investing in a carpet cleaning machine would be useful over the years. These machines tend to be expensive. So if your visitor happens to buy one as a result of a link on your site, you’d earn a higher commission.

So maximize your income by promoting various type of products even if you don’t initially see the fit. With a little creative thinking you’d be surprised what you can promote.

• Search through other product categories outside your niche.
• Compile a list of potential products you can promote into your existing or new content.

As stated in the video above, don’t just focus on just promoting companies that pay you the most. It means little if they aren’t converting at all. Instead focus on the “epc” or overall rating of the product, website or service first. This will be an indicator of how well people are doing when promoting the product. Keep in mind some companies may be new so their epc aren’t high yet. But you can confirm that by asking your affiliate manager. But in general a lower epc isn’t a good thing.

You should look at the actual commission you’re paid after determining the epc or rating. Ideally the higher the “epc” or rating the more likely you are to make money. Because it means people are actually converting on that product. If you’re promoting something where an EPC or rating isn’t provided, try asking the affiliate manager or company about their epc. Or if you’re promoting an amazon product, look at the reviews for the product. You should also check to see if this is one of the top selling product in their given category.

• Find affiliate products or services that have high ratings or epc.
• Check their landing pages as well to determine if they’re likely to convert.
• Review the current affiliate products or services you’re currently promoting.
