WriterAccess Review: Pure Hype or Worthwhile Content Mill?

Just like any other profession, making money writing content online has its ups and downs. But you probably know this already and it’s why you’re checking out WriterAccess reviews online to determine their legitimacy.

Well, I won’t waste your time, I’ll actually save you tons of it once you read this WriterAcess review. We have all the good, the bad and ugly about the company. If I were you, I would read this review carefully. Consider yourself warned!

 

What is WriterAccess?

WriterAccess found online at WriterAccess.com is a content mill; a service that enables clients get articles, blog posts, press releases and other web content written by remote freelance writers and editors. WriterAccess is owned and managed by IdeaLaunch; a market research firm founded by Byron White in 1999. They are currently headquartered at 205 Portland St Ste 500, in Boston, MA 02114-1708 in the US.

 

How Does WriterAccess Work?

WriterAccess is your basic content mill. Clients who need articles will post jobs based on a set of rules writers have to follow. They’ll specify the keywords to use, deadline, content type and length of the content. They also get to choose the level of skill they require on a scale of 2-5 stars which will determine the article’s cost. Writers who qualify for the job will be able to see these jobs and their specifications. Here’s what you can write at WriterAccess

As a writer, once you click on a job you have a few minutes to decide whether you want to take it on or not. If you pick it, the countdown starts and you’ll have to complete it within the set time frame. If you fail to do so, the article will be released from you with no chance of taking it up again.

On the flip side, once you complete a job, the client has 14 days to either approve, reject or send a revision. The payment appears almost immediately on your account if a client approves the article. If they reject it, they’ll have to say why and rate you accordingly.

If they say nothing within the 14 days, WriterAccess will automatically approve your article. Best case scenario, they approve your article, rate you 5 stars, add you to their “love list” and send jobs directly to you in future. Worst case scenario? Your jobs get rejected, WriterAccess moderators deem you unfit as a writer and you get banned for life.

Compared to other content mills we’ve reviewed before like iWriter and TextBroker, WriterAccess has a significantly higher pay rate. Here’s what you stand to earn based on your rating, and the order level you qualify for at the time of writing this review.

• 2nd Level orders pay at least 1.4 cents per word
• 3rd Level orders pay at least 2.8 cents per word
• 4th Level orders pay at least 4.2 cents per word
• 5th Level orders pay at least 5.6 cents per word
• 6th Level orders pay at least 7.0 cents per word

How Much Money Can I Make With WriterAccess

WriterAccess pays by the word, so the more you write, the more you earn. As you already know your star level determines how much you earn per word. They may upgrade you based on your clients’ feedback as your experience improves. But the bottom line is, the availability of these jobs determines your payday. Content mills can be very competitive so there’s no guarantee that jobs will be sitting around waiting for you day-in day-out.

 

How & When Does WriterAccess Pay Writers?

WriterAccess claims they pay writers every two weeks by either the 9th or 24th of every month exclusively via PayPal. You’ll need to have earned at least $10 to get paid though.

 

WriterAccess Sign Up Process

Signing up for WriterAccess is pretty simple. You’ll need an email address and a PayPal address to sign up. Once you create an account with your personal details and confirm your email they’ll ask you to write a sample. They will then use your sample to give you an initial rating. At the time of this review they only accept writers from the US with working PayPal accounts.

If your SignUp does not go through or you’re not from the US, don’t worry. You can still make a living writing online through Wealthy Affiliate where you learn how to build your own website and make money writing either for yourself or clients that need articles written.

 

WriterAccess Tips

When you join WriterAccess, you’ll have to work your way up by proving your skills. But you can improve your chances of getting an upgrade by:

Learning SEO – WriterAccess values writers skilled in SEO, that’s what gets you promoted. You can read all about that here. Don’t know where to start? Wealthy Affiliate has tons of training you can use to learn all about SEO. You can also use valuable tools such as Jaaxy and SERanking that help you know what keywords to use, how to write articles that drive traffic among other things while writing SEO articles for your clients.

Respond to casting calls – Clients use casting calls when they want to target specific writers. You’re free to apply to casting calls by specifying your skills, availability, interests and so on. When a client deems you fit for a job, they’ll add you to their “Love List” and assign gigs directly to you.

 

WriterAccess Complaints

Companies will never show you their dark side, only what you want to hear. You probably already know this, and that’s why this part is important to you So here are a few complaints you may want to know about WriterAccess.

It’s hard getting promoted

These guys won’t go soft on you. You may find it hard rising up the ranks. Some writers claim it took them years to get promoted to better paying levels. So in they end, they have the final say to how bright your star can shine.

Don’t quit your day job

I had mentioned earlier that WriterAccess does pay quite well compared to most other content mills. But nothing in this world comes easy. Entry level writers typically start at level 2 or 3, but these levels barely have enough jobs due to the high competition for jobs. Writers say you can go for days without getting a single gig, which can be frustrating to some.

 

WriterAccess Alternatives

If you don’t like anything you’ve just read, maybe you’re better off trading your skills elsewhere. There are tons of content mills out there all with their fair share of good and evil.

WriterAccess is legit, with a positive reputation in the industry. But you’ll have to fight for your place among the best to earn any decent money. They may be paying better than most content mills, but you can’t make money if there’s nothing to be made, now will you?
